Privacy Policy

GreenGuard AU ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Jadugar Design Studio AU/NZ. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application ("the App").

We are committed to complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) ("Privacy Act") and the Australian Privacy Principles ("APPs") contained in Schedule 1 of that Act. This policy also reflects our obligations under relevant state and territory privacy legislation.

We request access to your device's location solely for two optional purposes: (a) to load your local weather and rainfall data on the home screen; and (b) to sort Plant Swap listings by proximity in the Community tab. Location is only accessed when you explicitly grant permission and is never stored on our servers. If you deny location access, all other App features continue to work normally.

3A. Plant Swap & Community Features

The Plant Swap board and Community Feed are public features visible to all signed-in GreenGuard AU users. Please be aware of the following before posting:

What is visible to other users:

Your contact email in swap listings: If you provide a contact email on a swap listing, it will be visible to all signed-in users and used by interested parties to contact you directly via their email app. We do not send or store this email beyond your listing โ€” it is displayed as provided. You can omit your contact email if you prefer not to share it.

Moderation: We reserve the right to remove any post or listing that violates our community rules (see Terms of Use, section 5A). If you encounter abusive or inappropriate content, please contact us at mubarak@csteel.com.au.

Location proximity sorting: When you tap "Near Me" in the Plant Swap tab, your device's GPS coordinates are used on-device to sort listings by approximate distance. Your coordinates are not sent to our servers and are not stored.

4. Disclosure to Third Parties

We disclose your information to the following third-party service providers who assist us in operating the App:

Google Firebase (USA) โ€” Authentication and cloud database (Firestore). Your account data and scan history are stored on Google Cloud servers, which may be located outside Australia. Google's Privacy Policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy

Google Gemini AI (USA) โ€” Plant images you submit are sent to Google's AI service for analysis. Images are processed according to Google's AI terms and privacy policy. We do not permanently store raw plant images after processing.

Resend (USA) โ€” Transactional email delivery service used to send trial and subscription notifications. Your email address is shared with Resend solely for this purpose. Resend's Privacy Policy applies: resend.com/legal/privacy-policy

Wikimedia Commons / iNaturalist (USA) โ€” Plant image lookups are performed using public APIs. No personal data is sent to these services โ€” only plant names are queried.

Device Share Sheet (on-device only) โ€” When you use the "Share Report" feature, your garden report is passed to your device's native share sheet. No data is sent to our servers as part of the share action.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for their own marketing purposes.

5. Cross-Border Data Transfers

By using the App, you acknowledge that your personal information will be transferred to and stored on servers located in the United States of America (Google Cloud / Firebase infrastructure). We take reasonable steps to ensure that overseas recipients handle your information in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. Data Retention

After account deletion, residual copies may remain in backup systems for up to 90 days before permanent deletion.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information. These include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), Google Firebase security rules, and regular security reviews. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us immediately.

9. Push Notifications

The App may request permission to send you push notifications for care reminders, pest alerts, and trial expiry notices. You may opt out at any time through your device settings. Opting out does not affect your ability to use the App.

10. Your Rights Under the Privacy Act

Access: You may request access to the personal information we hold about you. We will respond within 30 days.

Correction: If you believe information we hold about you is inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, or misleading, you may request that we correct it.

Deletion: You may delete your account directly within the App at any time: open the Profile tab, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete Account. This will permanently delete your account and all associated data.

Opt-out of marketing: You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you through the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
